How can the Church effectively teach objective moral truths while at the same time respecting each person's individual experience and unique journey?
What is the role of external authority in the formation and shaping of conscience?
How can the university today remain a place of the integral development
of the human person and of an authentic master–student relationship?
These are among the questions that will be explored during the international
conference "John Henry Newman and John Paul II – Faithful Witnesses in Times of Crisis", organized by the Faculty of Philosophy at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) in cooperation with the
University of Santo Tomas in Manila (Philippines). The conference will take place on 10–11 December 2026 at the Faculty of Philosophy of KUL.
The conference language will be English. Among the invited speakers are
Prof. Rocco Buttiglione and Prof. Christopher Cimorelli, Director of the National Institute for Newman Studies (USA).
